Hi! It’s Black Friday! Are you doing any crazy shopping with your family or friends today? Today’s As You See It Challenge is all about making a project with your favorite stamp set. For me, that’s Gorgeous Grunge…however, you’ll notice neither of my cards uses that stamp set. Why? Hi there! Today I’m bringing you one of my favorite swap cards from Convention 2013 (yes, I still have more of these to come)! It uses several great products that were new in our 2013-2014 Annual Catalog, including the Notable Notions Stamp Set, Chalk Talk Framelits, and Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder! It also uses a GREAT product that is is SALE during the Holiday Sale – the Core’dinations Cardstock!!! I LOVE that stuff! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Quick Tip Tuesday! I’m going to show several ways to use this amazing, versatile product! It is textured if you leave it plain, or you can sand it, tear it, or emboss AND sand it together to reveal the paler core! All of the packs except the 2013-2015 Color Pack are included in the Holiday Sale and they are 30% off!!! Rock on! I LOVE this product so I couldn’t be happier. With the regular color collections, you get 40 total sheets – 4 sheets of each of the 10 colors – for $16.77 (regularly $23.95) and the 2012-2014 In Color collection is 20 total sheets – 4 sheets of each of the 5 colors – for $8.97 (regularly $11.95). Anyway, I used the Primrose Petals from the 2012-2014 In Color Core’dinations Cardstock on this card and simply tore the top and bottom edge, as well as stamped on it a bit with the script image from Notable Notions in Primrose Petals ink. The main focal point was stamped and then cropped out with the Chalk Talk Framelits with the help of the Magnetic Platform and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. *TIP: The framelit that matches the image is symmetrical, so just use your Paper Snips to snip off the bottom of the shape off to match the straight bottom edge of the stamp. That Cotton Ribbon is so fantastic and easy to use on projects that it just blows my mind! 🙂 It’s also a super easy one to dye to match your projects too!
I’m so in love with the elements in this stamp set! The buttons are 3 separate images but I put all of them onto a clear block and stamped the background (as well as a matching envelope) quickly and easily. I love the sentiment too! It’s fun because it is also a design element and the main focal point but the thing I LOVE most about it is that it can work for so many different occasions. “You Make Me Smile” would work for birthdays, thank yous, retirements, graduations, and of course, the no occasion, just-wanted-to-make-someones-day. 🙂 The color combo of Soft Suede, Primrose Petals, So Saffron, and Very Vanilla really feels vintage and is so soft and beautiful! Embossing the So Saffron strip of cardstock with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder just added some gorgeous dimension and texture!
I hope you loved this card as much as I do! It ended up being my favorite of the 13 cards I designed for Convention this year – I think because it was SO out of the box for me. Do you ever have that? You make something that isn’t in your comfort zone and it ends up being better that what you’d do if you stuck to your comfort zone? Pretty exciting when that happens! Ok, crafty friends, I’ll leave you for today but check in tomorrow for some more crafty inspiration! 🙂
Hi there! Back with a great sketch again today from the As You See It Challenge Blog! I also used a color combo from Dynamic Duos too! Man…was this the hardest card EVER to photograph or what!!! That Silver Foil paper really makes it tricky! I really enjoyed trying a Black, Vanilla and Silver combo instead of the normal red and green for Christmas cards. 🙂 I embossed the greeting in black and the ornaments in silver for a bit of extra shine! That Silver Foil paper is STUNNING and looks so fantastic when you dry emboss it (Big Shot & embossing folders…not that old method with the stylus and metal stencil thing 🙂 )
I chose Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White so I could use the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. What a versatile DSP that is! LOVE it! Also used a piece of the Silver Glimmer Paper for a little razzle dazzle!

Hi there! Coming at you today with a Color Challenge from the As You See It Design Team! We’re on Challenge #011! Can you believe it? Join us over at the As You See It Challenge Blog!!!
I also combined the fab color combo of So Saffron, Pistachio Pudding, and Blushing Bride with a Sketch Challenge from over at the Clean & Simple Stamping Challenge Blog. I was so excited to use the Zoo Babies stamp set for the first time! I also used the “it’s a girl” sentiment from Baby Prints because the sketch called for a larger sentiment. The sentiment was stamped in Blushing Bride ink onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I die cut a 2″ Whisper White circle from the Circles Originals Die and stamped the elephant from Zoo Babies in Pistachio Pudding onto it. I also stamped the elephant again on a scrap and snipped the ear out with my Paper Snips. Popped that up onto a Stampin’ Dimensional and stuck it onto the elephant. I layered more Stampin’ Dimensionals between the elephant and the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (out of Blushing Bride). I offset another one of the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punches out of So Saffron cardstock.
Otherwise the card is pretty simple. The sentiment panel measures 3″ x 1″ and the So Saffron mat behind it is 3″ x 1-1/4″. The 3″ x 4-1/4″ Pistachio Pudding layer was embossed with the Big Shot and the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Blushing Bride layer behind it measures 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ and the whole thing was mounted on a So Saffron card base measuring 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″). A couple of the largest pearls from the Basic Pearl Jewels finished off the sentiment panel.

Hi there! It’s Friday and you know what that means…As You See It Challenge Day!!! We’re on Challenge #009! Can you believe that?!?
You’ll see the challenge graphic below! It’s a fun “Assortment” challenge where you have to use all of the items in the challenge on your project! Otherwise, it’s pretty open! I found a sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches that I thought would work perfectly with the elements I needed to include. You shouldn’t be surprised that I saw Daffodil Delight and immediately thought of my favorite color combo of Strawberry Slush, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, and Whisper White.
The main Whisper White squares at 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ and the Bermuda Bay layers are 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″. The Bermuda Bay card base is 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and the Whisper White mat on top of that was cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ before being run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The flowers are from the Flower Shop set and the ink splatters from…you guessed it…Gorgeous Grunge!!! Finally, my large Strawberry Slush flower was cut out with the Big Shot and Fun Flowers die, while I used the other part of the Flower Shop Bundle – the punch – to crop out the smaller flower from an old scrap of Daffodil Delight that had already been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder (gotta love that!). On top of those, I layered the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, as well as a Pumpkin Pie button (from the Brights Collection Designer Buttons) threaded with a scrap snippet of White Baker’s Twine. Finally, the greeting is from Lots of Thanks and I stamped it and matted it with a scrap of Pumpkin Pie.
