Hi! Are you ready for another amazing challenge from As You See It?!? Loving them so much!!! This one is another sketch challenge so I hope you’ll head over there and play along! You have nearly a week to get your submission in so give it a try!
I made this card unnecessarily hard because I had a brilliant idea that ended up not working out. I stamped the patterned arrow stamp from Oh, Hello twice in the center of the card and then masked off just one part of it to stamp on the outside of each side of that…seriously, if you want to re-create this effect, just stamp the stamp twice and then twice next to it! 🙂 I tried to create an ombré effect with Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay inks. I sponge daubered on Pool Party onto the very bottom two patterned shapes, then Coastal Cabana. Then, when I stamped it the second time, I sponge daubered on Coastal Cabana then sponged Bermuda Bay on over the top of that and on the top two patterned shapes as well. 🙂 The only other technique I tried on this card was to cut the top note out of Bermuda Bay and Basic Black card stock and then cut around it at the stitching line on the Bermuda Bay piece. I sanded the edges with the sanding block and adhered it to the Basic Black piece. The Whisper White panel in the background is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder. Some Basic Rhinestone Jewels colored black highlight the center and tie the black back in.
I hope you enjoyed my project for today and hope that you’ll hop over there to see the rest of the projects by the design team, as well as be inspired to be creative yourself. 🙂
Hi there! Today I have for you another card I made as a swap for Stampin’ Up!’s Convention this summer. This is my FAVORITE color combo! It’s bright, fun and oh, so pretty together! Strawberry Slush (loving those new in colors), Bermuda Bay (loving the color refresh bringing some old favorites back), Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie. It’s really a pretty simple card – just layers of fun things!
The sentiment from Label Love is embossed with White Embossing Powder onto Bermuda Bay card stock, then easily punched out with the matching Artisan Label punch. Layered onto a 1-3/4″ Circle punched out of Strawberry Slush card stock and pierced with the Paper-Piercing Tool, Piercing Mat, and the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Polka Dot Parade DSP (Daffodil Delight large circle dot and Pumpkin Pie small polka dot patterns) and the Quatrefancy Specialty DSP (Strawberry Slush geometric pattern). Oh, and that Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine!!! It’s from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit! I love that it comes with 20 feet of each of 3 colors exclusive to the kit. The tragedy of photographs? You totally cannot tell that the background piece of Whisper White is embossed with the Big Shot and the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. You guys know I’m a total ribbon lover, right? I LOVE to do this technique with the Seam Binding Ribbon and will show it in a video super soon!
Check out my über late Quick Tip Tuesday #21 on Custom Dyed Baker’s Twine. The Strawberry Slush Baker’s Twine was actually dyed for this project before I decided that I liked the Bermuda Bay better. 🙂 That post is dated today as well as I had some serious technical issues last night/this morning (uploaded 4 separate times to YouTube).

As You See It Challenge #002
I have a little bit of a double feature for you today! I started to make the Thank You card first and it just wasn’t working out for me, so I scrapped it and made the Thanksgiving card. I had the idea to replicate the space in the strip on the sketch with a punch and this punch and stamp set from the Holiday Catalog were a perfect match for the idea I had! I LOVED our sketch this week over at As You See It Challenges, so I hope you’ll join in and be inspired for our 2nd challenge EVER! 🙂 Click here and bookmark http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com for new challenges every Friday! 🙂
A couple of little details about the first card…I used the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper for the snappy, masculine-friendly patterned papers. I also stamped the outline oak leaf Gently Falling stamp (Love this versatile stamp set! Use just the solid parts, just the outlines or use them together!) in VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I stamped the main focal point from the Tags 4 You stamp set in the Holiday Catalog in Chocolate Chip ink on Crushed Curry card stock. If you look closely, you can see it’s shiny! Why? Because I used clear embossing powder and embossed quickly, before the ink could dry. Traditionally, you can’t emboss with dye based inks, but our new ink pad design (updated in June 2012) makes for juicy, but still fairly quick drying images that will accept the embossing powder! Just heat it up quick and you’re good to go! I cropped it out with the matching punch. The final touch was two Tangerine Tango Candy Dots and Candy Dot Brad Bases! I LOVE these!!!
On to my 2nd card…the problem card! I so badly wanted to use Stippled Blossoms as I’ve had it for about a year and never used it! (*GASP*) The sentiment is embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder and the edges of the stamped panels are sponged with Pool Party ink to make them stand out against the Whisper White background. In the moments before I was going to throw it away, I had a brain wave to add the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to the front of the card and the Whisper White taffeta ribbon too! I ended up with a card that I really, really like! *Crafting lesson: If a project isn’t going the way you’d like it to, put it down and move on to something else! Pick it up later and try to rework it into something you’re happy with! 🙂
Now for the sketch!

It’s Finally Here…As You See It Challenge #001
The day is finally here! Our first sketch from the As You See It Challenge site is up, as well as all of the Design Team Members creations with it!!! I hope you’ll take the time this weekend to play along! We cannot wait to see what you’ve created. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out my announcement HERE.)
If you read my Design Team Q&A, you know I said that my favorite stamp set is Gorgeous Grunge, but that I hadn’t actually inked it up! Sounds crazy, right? Well, I couldn’t wait to use it for this challenge!!! I paired up the sketch from our As You See It Challenge #001 with a color combination from the Stampin’ Up! Color Coach of Island Indigo, Basic Gray, and Elegant Eggplant.
Some details: I sponged some Whisper White Craft Ink around the edges of the Basic Gray mat and the Island Indigo flags to really make them pop. I also dyed some Whisper White Baker’s Twine with a mixture of Basic Gray Classic Ink Refill and rubbing alcohol. Stay tuned for a video on how to do this! Another little detail – the diagonal stripe stamp is stamped in Island Indigo, then onto a scratch piece of paper then onto the project. This technique, called stamping off, makes the image a little less bold and is great for collage stamping like this. The sentiment, from Hello, Lovely, was stamped on Whisper White and cut out with the Paper Snips. Did you see the Elegant Eggplant button? It’s from the brand new, redesigned Regals Collection Designer Buttons! They are better than ever! LOVE them!!! Also, the Gray and White chevron pattern (used for the flags) are from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper – one of my favorites in the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog! Lastly, the Island Indigo flags were embossed with the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. It’s a bit difficult to see in the picture but it’s beautiful in real life.
Check out the sketch I used to create my project below! The full supply list with links to the items in my Stampin’ Up! Store are below the sketch. I really hope you play along at the first ever As You See It Challenge! Check it out at the As You See It Challenge Blog!!!

Hi! I’m so excited to get back to blogging and what better reason than some exciting news!!! I’ve been asked to be a part of the Design Team for the brand new challenge blog, As You See It Challenges! We’ll have a new challenge every week and I’m super excited because there are different types of challenges depending on the week. So sometimes you’ll have a sketch to work with, sometimes you’ll have a color combination, and other fun challenges yet to come. I’ve seen a sneaky peek of some of the first ones and I cannot wait to create using them!!! The first challenge begins on September 6th so stay tuned for that! You can get to know the Design Team up until we begin and my day for the Q&A is today. So head on over to www.AsYouSeeItChallenge.com and check it out…
Here’s the project I’m sharing over at the As You See It Challenge Blog in conjunction with my Q&A today:
One of my favorite cards I’ve made lately! I found this color combo on a polka dotted dress at JCPenney! This stamp set (Regarding Dahlias) was my first MUST HAVE stamp set in the new 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Pair that with chevrons and I’m a happy girl! (Side note: If you don’t have the Chevron Background Stamp, you need it! Chevron patterned paper in whatever color you want!!! Yes, please!) I also love the half circle element on the right side with layers and texture created with my beloved Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine! I am also constantly using a HOT trend in paper crafting, flagged ends! Love love love doing that on my sentiment layers. Of course, I had to put some ribbon on there and there are oodles of Stampin’ Dimensionals popping pieces up and creating depth in my project. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!! Check out below for the full supply list. If you click on an item, it will show you that item in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store. Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything! 🙂 Can’t wait to share more crafty goodness with you in the coming days!!!

Where do I start? So so many things I love about this card!!! Silver Glimmer Paper makes me swoon! So beautiful, glittery, simple, mess-less (am I making up words again?)…and you can get it free with a party or $150 order during Sale-A-Bration! Speaking of Stampin’ Up!’s best sale of the year, Sale-A-Bration 2013, do you see that fabulous stamp? It’s from my favorite SAB stamp set, Vintage Verses!!! (The “Thanks” in the set is to die for as well!) I also love the new Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder that is in the Spring Catalog. Here I’ve embossed it onto Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock and then sanded with the Stampin’ Sanding Block to reveal the lighter color on the inside of the paper. Oh, did I mention the ribbon? Or that doily? Read on…
The ribbon is ANOTHER free option during SAB with any $50 order! The Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack is so so awesome, it contains 3 spools of gorgeous 1/4″ ribbon in 3 colors: Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Tangerine Tango, as well as buttons in Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, and Tangerine Tango! Seriously, ALL of that!!! Wowza! I am seriously hoping this pretty ribbon is offered in more fabulous colors in our next Annual Catalog!
The Paper Doily is from the Spring Catalog! These things are a steal at $2.95 for 24 of them! That’s right, I said 24!!! For this card, I folded it in half (not perfectly) so it would add more dimension to the card, but if you’re going for more bang for your buck, simply cut these pretties in half and have twice as many! YAY!
I used the Bitty Butterfly punch (again Spring Catalog) and punched a few out of the Silver Glimmer Paper to add some sparkle and shine to the card. Did I tell you yet how excited I am about this punch? I probably did – but I’ll tell you again! It coordinates with one of my all time favorite stamp sets, Papillon Potpourri!!! Are you kidding me? A punch for the large butterfly and the small one now too?!? Oh, double yay! This punch also matches the FREE SAB stamp set Bloomin’ Marvelous!!! (It’s pretty too! I bet you’re surprised that I think that!) I finished off the card with a couple of adhesive rhinestones to accent the beauty of the stamp – and let’s not kid ourselves, add a little more sparkle and shine, because who doesn’t love that? 🙂
Now, let’s talk about the color combo! Put any lighter color with Basic Gray and BAM, you’ve got yourself a beautiful monochromatic card! Other favorites besides Pool Party – Summer Starfruit or Pretty in Pink or Pink Pirouette or Certainly Celery…and oh, Calypso Coral would look pretty! See it works with brighter colors too, just a little less contrast! Give it a try!
This fabulous card was a complete CASE of my friend Desiree Spenst, who I believe CASEd it from someone else. That’s how we roll in the stamp world! Share and stamp, stamp and share!
If you haven’t already, place your Sale-A-Bration order today to start playing with many of these fun goodies! As always, if you have questions, don’t hesitate – that’s what I’m here for!!!
CHECK OUT the Simplified Sale-A-Bration Brochure HERE! It is a viewer friendly format of everything you can earn free with each increment of $50 you spend (before tax & shipping).

Vintage Papillon Potpourri Card
Hello! I hope today’s card reminds you that spring is just around the corner. I’ve layered tons of images onto the First Edition Designer Series Paper by stamping in different colors. It may be hard to see in the photo, but in real life, it looks really, really cool. One other thing I LOVE about this card is the butterflies from Papillon Potpourri – they were probably the simplest thing I did on this page because of their matching punches!!! I was beyond excited when I saw that the smaller butterfly had a matching punch in the new Spring Catalog! (FYI: The Bitty Butterfly Punch also matches the butterfly in the FREE Sale-A-Bration offering, Bloomin’ Marvelous.) YAY!!! Anyway, I love the vintage style and don’t typically gravitate to making cards of that style myself so I signed up for a Vintage Swap at Leadership Conference for a bit of a challenge! 🙂 I love the final result and it makes me want to try vintage more often!
You may be thinking that this card looks familiar! That’s because I showed you a few of the pieces of how I made it in two of my recent videos HERE and HERE! If you haven’t watched those yet, I hope you do! A few other details – the Label Framelit layered behind the Oval Punch is turned 90 degrees from how you typically see it. It is also pierced with its matching template from the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and then flipped over to the other side so you see the rough sides of the holes instead of the clean ones. Again, a little vintage touch! I also really like to do that to masculine cards to give them more of a rough feel.
You may have been thinking, wait, I thought that paper-piercing pack was in the Holiday Catalog? You’d be right! It did debut there but it is in the Spring Catalog on page 36 with the other selection of items that were in the Holiday Catalog and are still available for order. The stamp sets are listed on the side (please let me know if you don’t have a Holiday Catalog if you’d like to see the images) and then the rest of the goodies are pictured on that page. One item that is still available but missed making it onto the page is the Champagne Glimmer Paper! I LOVE all of the Glimmer Papers so I was pretty excited about this! If you want to order it, just punch in item 127885!
Ok, finally, I’ll give you a rundown of what those “tons of images” that are stamped on the First Edition DSP so you can recreate this card! 🙂 It doesn’t really matter the order you do these things in – although I normally go from your lightest ink to darkest so you can best see what and where you’re stamping. I stamped the large floral image from Elements of Style several times in Crumb Cake ink over the entire piece to cover it. The Swallowtail butterfly is stamped in Baja Breeze ink. Then I stamped the paint splatter image (LOVE IT! This is a must-have stamp for me!) several times in Soft Suede ink. Finally I stamped my Music Notes wheel in Early Espresso ink towards the bottom. I unmount my wheels (see a video of that HERE) and I didn’t want to have a harsh edge so I used a torn post it note to mask off the left side of the wheel so it would look gradual with the torn edge instead of harsh with a straight edge. If I had it to do over again, I would either stamp my Music Notes wheel all the way to the bottom or move my ribbon up a bit. In the video showing you how to gather your ribbon like I did on this swap, you see why this happened to me as my ribbon hung down much farther than where I originally applied my sticky strip. (I knew this would happen but didn’t compensate for it as much as I should’ve to show the music notes a bit more.) I layered this piece onto my distressed Espresso piece (see that video HERE), and then applied the ribbon treatment on top of that so I could tape the ends onto the back. The butterflies were added with glue dots and the sentiment and Espresso pierced framelit were layered together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and then added onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals!
I hope you enjoyed this project! It’s one of my favorites that I’ve made in a long, long time! If you don’t want to miss out on a single post, please subscribe to my blog! 🙂

I LOVE the In Colors released last June. They are so so pretty together, whether you use all of them or just two as I have here. The bright, fun colors in the Patio Party Designer Series Paper gave me a fun jumping off point for this color combo of Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, and Whisper White. I paired this with one of my favorite stamp sets, Mixed Bunch and its matching Blossom Punch! It is such a fun set because you can use it with the punch, stamp it directly to paper without punching (like I’ve done in the background here), or use the punch alone too!!! I usually use the stamp set with the punch, so it’s a totally different look when you use them separate from each other! Love that! I’m sure I CASEd this card from someone, somewhere but I have no idea who! Nine times out of ten that’s what happens with me!!! 🙂
Tip of the Day: Any time you’re stumped about a color combination, find one of your Designer Series Papers and use the colors in the paper! You don’t even have to use the paper, so check out even the DSPs you don’t own in our catalogs!

Gathered Ribbon Tip: Quick Tip Tuesday #20
I hope you enjoy today’s quick little ribbon tip that’s great for any type of project: cards, scrapbook pages, 3D items, or any other paper craft you can dream up! I used it here on a vintage card but it will really work with most any style.
Stampin’ Up! sells their fabulous Seam Binding Ribbon in 8 colors. One of them is Very Vanilla and the great thing about Whisper White or Very Vanilla ribbon is that it is easy to dye to match any project using our Classic Ink Refills! So instead of just the 8 colors, you can have 50!!!
Head on over to my Online Store and get some ribbon to start creating with today! It is my very most favorite embellishment to add to any project!!!
This card was the favorite at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack last month! I CASEd the main elements for this card from Jackie Bolhuis. So simple and beautiful with the Snow Flurry Die, Silver Glimmer Paper, and a simple greeting. This amazing die will not be available on our carry-over list during the Spring Catalog, so get it before our Holiday Catalog ends on January 2nd! I also used one of our Basics Glimmer Brads, as well as the Scallop Edge Punch (with the Silver Glimmer Paper) to give it even a little more bling! Be thinking ahead – our hostesses during Sale-A-Bration (from January 22, 2013 – March 22, 2013) will receive a package of the Silver Glimmer Paper as a little extra perk for hosting a party!
Be watching in early 2013 for several new additions to the Sarah Loves to Stamp offerings sure to be beloved by stampers and scrapbookers!

Hi there! Today is the FINAL day of the Online Extravaganza! If you haven’t taken advantage of the best sale Stampin’ Up! offers all year, you have just a few more hours until it closes at 11:50 pm Mountain Time. In the spirit of sharing cards made with products on the sale, here is a card we made last week at my Intro to Stamping Class! Super fun and cute! I love layering the little punches on top of the 1″ Square Punch (on sale) and then onto the Postage Stamp Punch! The smaller, simple note cards below this info use many of the same supplies, but do not use the stamp set, just the punches. These are going to be my Christmas thank yous that I send out to friends and family. For these cards, punch the smaller punch first (Merry Minis Punch Pack) and then it is much easier to center the larger one (1″ Square Punch) around it. I CASEd both the little thank yous, as well as the card above from the fantastic Julie Davison!!!
I used a favorite of mine, the Basic Rhinestone Jewels (30% off) yet again! The Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon is in a bundle with the Raspberry Ripple & Summer Starfruit (30% off too) for $18.81 – that’s 30 yards of ribbon total! That’s just under $0.63 per yard! WOW!

Stampin’ Up! Cyber Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday!!!
Hi there! Today I have another super cute card that we made at my Stamp-a-Stack this month! This one was CASEd from my dear, dear Canadian friend Desiree Spenst – although I think she said she had also CASEd it from someone else. Such is the stamping world!!! 🙂 Anyway, remember that our fabulous Online Extravaganza Sale lasts until Wednesday, November 28th – again, ending the sale with three 24 hour only deals! CLICK HERE to download the PDF and check out all of the spectacular deals!
I just love this little gingerbread boy and girl from the Scentsational Season stamp set in the Holiday Catalog! Remember that if you love them too, they are only available until January 2, 2013!!! To make the little boy, I tied a little bow with the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and put some of the Basic Rhinestone Jewels on for his buttons. They are on sale for only $3.47!!! I think I already ordered 4 packages to stock up!!! The little girl gingerbread’s bow is made with 2 of the tiny hearts from the Owl Builder Punch! Clever use, huh? 🙂 As I said, not my idea but BRILLIANT!!! I also used the Gumball Green ribbon that is on sale in the bundle, as well as the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack. I LOVE both of these items, but think it especially hard to see how awesome the Brights DSP Stack is! It includes 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in all 10 colors in the Brights Collection! LOVE it!!! All of the patterns are tone-on-tone and include: polka dots, stripes, a text pattern, and a fancier looking motif! So so so useful!!!
Check out below for a full supply list! Don’t miss out on this sale and CLICK HERE to shop in my Online Store! 🙂 (Add some items from the Clearance Rack to get even more amazing deals on our awesome products!!!)

50% Off Come to Bethlehem in Online Extravaganza Sale!
I just love this card that I CASEd for my Winter Stamp-a-Stack Class this past week, but I have NO idea who I got the idea from…sorry! So so so pretty!!! It uses a very simple color scheme and the beautiful Core’dinations card stock. I tell you what, putting it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder, then sanding with our Stampin’ Sanding Block to reveal that lighter core is like magic! Also, I think I didn’t quite re-ink my Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad enough, so when I stamped it was a bit blotchy. The Blender Pens are a quick fix when used with the ink you squeeze on the lid. I’ll make a video showing you what I mean very soon!
Come to Bethlehem is a favorite of mine and at 50% off the price cannot be beat! The Wood-Mount is normally $19.95, down to $9.98 and the Clear-Mount is normally $14.95, down to $7.48! WOW! The Decorative Label is my MOST FAVORITE punch we sell and it’s 30% off too!!! I also used it to punch out the larger verse from Come to Bethlehem and glued that inside the card.

Happy Halloween + Quick Tip Video
Hi there! Hope you’re all having a wonderful Halloween! I made a card to share with you that fits a lot of challenges online this week. Sure fun to get some ideas from other places – my favorite are sketches and color challenges and I used BOTH on this card. I would’ve NEVER thought to put So Saffron & Daffodil Delight together, but I LOVED them together. I stamped the “Happy Halloween” from the hostess set Wacky Wishes randomly on my So Saffron card stock in Daffodil Delight ink and that really helped pull those two yellows together! I also did a challenge that meant that you had to include bling, so I took my Stampin’ Up! Basic Rhinestone Jewels and colored them with a permanent black marker. Another fun challenge requires you to use supplies that are more than 6 months old – mine were my neglected colors So Saffron and Tangerine Tango, as well as the Whisper White Baker’s Twine and all of the circle punches!
One other tip is about the Candy Corn – I made it with a Whisper White 1/2″ circle punch, Tangerine Tango 1″ circle punch, and Daffodil Delight 1-3/8″ circle punch, centered and layered together. Then you cut wedges to make the individual Candy Corn pieces! So so simple! I also rounded all 3 corners so they looked even more like Candy Corn. Then I put them on Dimensionals and popped them in my little jar! I just love the Perfectly Preserved stamp set and Cannery framelits in the Holiday Catalog!!! There are so so many things that aren’t even in the stamp set, that you can fill that little jar with! 🙂
I hope you enjoy this project, as well as the Quick Tip Tuesday on using your embossing folders without the Big Shot. Such a fun technique! Give it a try and send me a picture of your creation! If you use all Stampin’ Up! goodies, I’d love to feature you and your project here as a guest stamper!
This card was entered into challenges at: Colour Q, Papertake Weekly, Brown Sugar, Fussy & Fancy Friday, Card Makin’ Mamas, Digistamps 4 Joy (vertical line 1), Stampin’ for the Weekend, Crafts and Me, Party Time Tuesdays, Fab n Funky, Scrappy Frogs, Inspire Me Fridays, A Gem of a Challenge, Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday, 2 Sisters, My Time to Craft, Oldie But a Goodie, Wags n Whiskers, The Artistic Stamper, The Sisterhood of Crafters, Dream Valley, Paper Pretties, and Creative Craft Challenges!
